A hustings meeting dedicated solely to the future of the NHS has been organized by Hackney Keep Our NHS Public (KONP).

Prospective politicians Heather Finlay of the Greens, Simon de Deney of the Liberal Democrats, Amy Gray from the Conservatives, Brian Debus of the Trade Union and Socialist Coalition and Diane Abbott from Labour will be arguing their party’s stance at the Halkevi Centre in Dalston Lane on Wednesday April 22 at 7pm.

KONP campaigner Bronwen Handyside said: “The NHS is increasingly starved of funding, crippled with debt through Private Finance Initiative (PFI) deals, handed over to predatory private companies, suffering low staff morale, fragmented by successive government reorganization and privatization and under threat from international trade treaties forcing even more privatisation.

Many polls are showing that the health service will be the most important issue for voters during the election.”
