Hackney’s hospice branded exceptional

PUBLISHED: 21:34 07 February 2013 | UPDATED: 21:34 07 February 2013

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has given St Joseph’s Hospice a clean bill of health in its latest inspection, reporting that patients described the care as exceptional and loving and staff felt proud and privileged to work there.

The CQC’s routine inspection found the hospice in Mare Street, which cares for people with life-limiting conditions in East London, met all the key standards which include care and welfare of people who use the service and respecting and involving people who use its services.

In line with normal practice, the hospice had no prior notice of the inspection.

A spokesman for St Joseph’s said: “I think with so much around at the moment about poor care at hospitals it is good to be able to reassure people that the hospice on their doorstep is providing good if not exceptional care.”
