Smokers in Hackney and East London are being encouraged to take part in the first ever mass quit attempt to stop smoking next month called Stoptober.
Everyone who registers for the programme which begins on October 1, will be sent a preparation pack, 28-day quit calendar and will receive daily encouragement with motivational text messages.
As well as the financial benefits of stopping smoking, those participating will experience physical improvements including a better sense of smell and taste and more energy.
Smoking is one of the biggest cause of premature death in City and Hackney and each year it accounts for over 100,000 deaths in the UK.
To register visit www.smokefree.nhs.uk/Stoptober or call 0800 022 4332.
