Young footballers on Hackney Marshes were paid a visit by none other than Jeremy Corbyn on Saturday.
The Labour leader dropped by before heading to the FA Cup final, where he saw his Arsenal team overcome the odds to beat Chelsea 2-1.
Labour has pledged 5 per cent of domestic and international TV rights money will be diverted to the grassroots game, and a “flexible train ticket” will be introduced to help more people get to matches.
Joyclen Brodie-Mends, Hackney Marsh Partnership and Young Hackney Youth Hub manager said: “He interacted well with the young people and they were very excited to see him. He spoke to them about the importance of teamwork and the skills around the game, also taking them through some drills.”
