NHS North East London and the City has developed a “Ramadan campaign” to ensure local Muslims keep healthy during their month-long fast.
Over 1.4 billion Muslims all over the world observe Ramadan, fasting from sunrise to sunset, and depending on moon sighting it will run from July 21 to August 20 this year.
But those suffering from chronic illnesses, who are pregnant, or who are on medication may suffer dehydration, dizziness and other complications by not eating.
The NHS is distributing a guide called Keeping Healthy in Ramadan and is also training Imams to give the community safe information on their health.
