A public meeting to discuss the future of the NHS in Hackney takes place at 6pm on Thursday.
Town hall health chief Cllr Jonathan McShane will be speaking at the Pembury Community Centre in Atkins Square, Lower Clapton. about NHS England’s “sustainability and transformation plan” (STP).
He will be joined by NHS STP managers to discuss their strategy for cutting £587million from budgets across north-east London.
The NHS plans to divide England into 44 “footprints” under the STP. It would see Hackney linked up with seven other local authority areas and could see some resources pooled.
Cllr McShane wrote to health secretary Jeremy Hunt last year to complain even he had been kept in the dark about the plans. Hackney has not signed up to the plan but other local authorities in the region have done.
