A woman has drawn on her own mental health experiences to write poetry which has been published in a book.

Mundia Namutabo, 52, was encouraged to write A Little Book of Poems after running a reading group at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Park Lodge in Victoria Park Road where she lives.

Her cognitive behavioural therapist, Dave O’Connor, suggested she publish her own work as “a form of self-expression”, and the book is now available from Author House.

Mundia said: “As I say in my book, the reason I wrote my poems was because I wanted the service users of Park Lodge to have some poetry they could understand.

“Most poems on the internet for adults are too difficult for mental health service users to comprehend.”
