Rooms have been decorated in the style of Christmases past at the Geffrye Museum.

The 11 period rooms at the museum of the home in Kingsland Road, Hoxton, have been set up to show how ordinary people lived over the past 350 years.

Visitors will be taken on a festive journey from the austere Christmas decorations of the 1650s, just after the Restoration of the monarchy, through to the exuberant decorations of a High Victorian Christmas.

For older visitors the recreation of rooms decorarated for Christmas in the 1930s and 1980s will be a trip down memory lane.

Original decorations are used in each room, together with real Christmas trees specially sourced to be the right species for the time period.

Christmas displays run until 3 January 2016, with free entry from 10am to 5pm daily, closed Mondays.
