Horrid Henry’s Joke Book has won an award for being a “special book” that made a “big impression,” in a competition run by Hackney Council.

The book - based on a fictional character created by Francesca Simon which went on to feature in an ITV cartoon series - won the award in Hackney Council’s ‘BOscors’ – or Oscars for books.

In the run up to World Book Day on March 3, residents were invited to nominate their favourite book that had “maybe changed their life.”

The winning adult title was fictional crime book The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, by Swedish journalist Stieg Larsson.
