A new form of social networking founded by a Tech City entrepreneur is to launch on Thursday and has already been shortlisted for the prestigious Event Technology Awards.

Shortlisted for the best new technology start up award, websiteYourInterest has been designed by Hoxton resident Ekaterina Lengefeld as a new type of social network which encourages people to connect in the real world based on common interests.

The site aims to eventually provide a global platform to facilitate meaningful connections and is particularly suited to event production.

Anyone can come together with likeminded people and organise an event on the system which provides a ticketing solution as well as software to monitor and analyse attendance.

The site is currently being trialled by University College of London students for networking and events this academic semester, with plans to roll it across major UK universities in the next three months.
