Various Tottenham players have enjoyed international success over the past few days

Christian Eriksen got the better of Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Ben Davies in Group B4 of the UEFA Nations League on Sunday evening.

The Denmark playmaker struck twice to inspire his country to a 2-0 win which puts them top of the standings with a 100 per cent record.

Eriksen opened the scoring in the first half when he took a touch inside the area and fired home via the post to make it 1-0 at the break.

Spurs’ talented attacking midfielder wrapped up the victory in the second half when he scored from the penalty spot with 63 minutes played.

It was the only match Eriksen played in during the international week after Denmark fielded a weakened side in the friendly with Slovakia last Wednesday following a dispute between the Danish Footballers’ Union and the National Federation (DBU).

Also last week, Davies had plenty to celebrate after Wales thrashed the Republic of Ireland on Thursday in their UEFA Nations League opener.

Ryan Giggs’ side triumphed 4-1 over their rivals with former Tottenham star Gareth Bale netting in the victory.

Davies assisted the Real Madrid man for his goal with a fine long-range pass and got through 81 minutes of the match.

A day later, on Friday night, the Belgians in the Spurs camp were able to register a comfortable 4-0 win over Scotland in a friendly fixture.

Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen started the game and the former played a part in Romelu Lukaku’s opener after 28 minutes.

The midfielder also made his presence felt for Belgium’s third goal by again winning the ball back.

Vertonghen completed the game and Dembele got through 81, but Toby Alderweireld remained an unused substitute.

Heung-min Son, fresh from leading South Korea to Asian Games glory, played in their 2-0 success over Costa Rica on Friday.

It was a mixed game for the Tottenham attacker, who will now avoid military service after leading his country to a gold medal in the recent competition.

Son failed to score from the penalty spot in the 35th minute, but saw team-mate Jae-Sung Lee spare his blushes by firing home the rebound after the forward had hit the post with his effort from 12-yards.

He did essentially make amends with 78 played when he set up Tae-hee Nam for South Korea’s second goal.

Various Tottenham players were involved in international games on Saturday with England suffering disappointment in their UEFA Nations League Group A4 opener with Spain at Wembley.

Harry Kane was presented with his World Cup golden boot before kick-off and saw Marcus Rashford fire the Three Lions ahead in the 11th minute.

Gareth Southgate’s team, which included Kane, Kieran Trippier and Dele Alli from the off, couldn’t build on making the breakthrough and lost 2-1.

Both Danny Rose and Eric Dier were introduced early in the second half, but they were not able to prevent a frustrating defeat.

Elsewhere, Cameron Carter-Vickers remained as an unused substitute in the United States 2-0 loss to Brazil on Sunday.

Davinson Sanchez did feature for Colombia in their away friendly at Venezuela and he played the full 90 minutes in their 2-1 triumph.

Finally, Serge Aurier captained Ivory Coast to a 2-1 win over Rwanda in an away qualifier for the Africa Cup of Nations.
