A look at how some of Tottenham Hotspur’s players fared while on international duty over the weekend

Victor Wanyama scored for Kenya in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match at home to Ethiopia on Sunday.

The national team captain led his country to a 3-0 win much to the delight of a big crowd in Nairobi.

Two first-half strikes put Kenya in control before Wanyama grabbed his first goal of the season, via the penalty spot, to wrap up the points.

He was forced off soon after, but only as a precaution and should be fit and available for Spurs’ Premier League encounter away to West Ham United on Saturday.

The victory for Kenya places them in a strong position in Group F with seven points from four games and as things stand, they look on course to qualify for their first Africa Cup of Nations since 2004.

Plenty of other Tottenham Hotspur players were in action for their countries over the weekend too.

On Friday, Harry Kane and Eric Dier started England’s goalless draw with Croatia in the UEFA Nations League Group A4.

The Spurs pair went closest to finding the net too as both hit the woodwork – Dier with a near-post header in the first half and captain Kane after the break with a fine header which struck the crossbar.

It ensured it finished goalless in Rijeka with Kieran Trippier and Harry Winks unused substitutes for the behind closed doors match.

All four Spurs players could be involved this evening (Monday) when England travel to Seville to take on Spain for another Group A4 encounter.

Elsewhere, Toby Alderweireld featured for Belgium on Friday in their 2-1 victory at home to Switzerland in Group A2.

The centre back completed the full match as part of the Red Devils back three and in Saudi Arabia, Lucas Moura made his return for Brazil.

After last appearing for his country in 2016, the winger come off the bench at half time of their 2-0 friendly win over Saudi Arabia.

Heung-min Son was also on the winning team on Friday, but he did miss a penalty in South Korea’s 2-1 victory over Uruguay in a home friendly fixture.

The Tottenham attacker stepped up and saw his 66th minute spot-kick effort saved, but fortunately team-mate Hwang Ui-jo was on hand to fire in the rebound.

It helped South Korea go on and defeat Uruguay in front of a sold-out Seoul World Cup Stadium with Son playing the full 90 minutes.

Also on Friday, Serge Aurier captained Ivory Coast to a 4-0 success over Central African Republic in Group H of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Elephants skipper completed the whole match as his country moved up to second in their group.
