The budding marketeers had cooked up their Market Day wares as part of The Schools to Market campaign, which aims to educate children about where food comes from and on how to eat more healthily.

Primary pupils from across Hackney took part and teamed up with Stoke Newington’s Whole Foods stores to sell their wares.

“It was wonderful to see the children’s confidence grow as they sold their produce to the customers. “We made ‘Stone Age Chutney’ to reflect our history project,” said teacher Cassie Liversidge of Southwold Primary school, one of four in the borough to take part on September 23rd.

In total, the youngsters from Shacklewell, Southwold and Hoxton Garden Primary Schools and Skinners Academy raised nearly £150, to be spent on cooking and planting programmes in their schools.
