Tickets for the night in world renowned artist Yinka Shonibare’s London Fields studio on Saturday February 27 cost £125.

Each ticket includes a raffle ticket for the chance to win a prize, including art from Anish Kapoor, Wolfgang Tilmans, Gavin Turk and Jake and Dinos Chapman.

Artist and teacher Deborah Rigby, who has lived in Evering Road, Stoke Newington, for 20 years, gathered together all her arty friends and contacts to throw on the party for the medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

The 52-year-old secondary school art teacher has been working “flat out” since before Christmas to organise it.

She said: “It really is amazing to get all these names.

“I did my MA at Chelsea in the 90s, most of my contemporaries there are my friends, I knew I knew most of these people, so I asked Yinka if I could use his space and he said “Of course you can,” and it all snowballed from there.”

The refugee crisis inspired her to put on the event.

She said: “I have been so saddened by the months of shocking images and news stories about the plight of people forced to flee their homes and country.

“The constant flow on TV of bombings and deaths all around the world today has shocked and horrified us all.”

Raffle prizes also include dinner for two at Hix and a tour of Lincolns Inn by a lawyer, and those attending will pick out a stone painted with nail polish out of a bag on arrival to be allocated a guaranteed prize.

Candida Doyle from Pulp, and Bishi will also be DJing on Saturday February 27, and live acoustic performances from Sukie Smith and Sarah Gill from Madam, Kitty Finer and Matty Barclay.
