A free Georgian-inspired Christmas family day is taking place at Sutton House in Homerton, Hackney, this Sunday.

Everyone is invited to join in with a Georgian Christmas feast, to make Georgian-inspired Christmas crafts, write a letter to Santa and decorate mince pies at East London’s oldest home in Homerton High Street.

The house is owned by the National Trust and built in 1535 for Henry VIII’s first secretary of state, Sir Ralph Sadleir, and is beautifully restored in authentic original decor, with a real Tudor kitchen.

On top of these activities, artist Emily Tracey will be making Georgian inspired lanterns nearby at 411 Mare Street.

The event runs from noon to 4pm.
