A man died shortly after being found unconscious in Kingsland Road.
Police and medics were called to Dalston at 10.25pm on Tuesday last week and found the man unresponsive.
Despite their efforts he died just after 11.30pm.
Police are in the process of informing next-of-kin.
The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious.
