The last chance for local residents, businesses, schools and communities to show off their gardening skills is fast approaching, with entries for the Hackney in Bloom competition closing on Monday July 4.

Judges for the council-run competition are looking for originality, design, impact, colour, quality and sustainability in the eight categories which include best school garden and Young and Green.

Now in its seventh year, the competition supports and encourages gardening, horticulture and environmental sustainability to make Hackney a greener, brighter and better place to live.
