Listed Victorian buildings in Kingsland High Street are no longer under threat from Crossrail 2, the Gazette can reveal.

Developers behind the project have issued an update and said two buildings near the station currently housing a beauty shop and Arancini Brothers have been removed from the area potentially needed for the scheme.

The Natwest building, pictured, will still be flattened under the plans, TfL has now confirmed.

The exact area that would be used should the project go ahead has not yet been revealed, although fears the Bradbury Street shops could be lost were allayed by TfL two years ago.

Regarding Dalston, the latest update from TfL, the Mayor’s Office and Network Rail said: “We have been working to minimise the impacts on residents.

“We have also sought to retain the character of the local area by removing listed buildings from the area potentially needed for the scheme.”

Another consultation is set to take place once an independent affordability review has been carried out. The government told chiefs to look at ways of making the project cheaper.
