London’s so-called “night Czar” met medics at Homerton Hospital and fire fighters at Shoreditch Fire Station on her first ever “night surgery” in Hackney.
Amy Lamé was appointed to the City Hall post in November to capitalise on the growth of the night time economy as well as looking at ways to make it safer.
She went out with Hackney Mayor Philip Glanville and MP Meg Hillier on Friday night, when they also dropped into a winter night shelter and met bar and club owners in Kingsland High Street.
The idea is to connect with venue owners, police, transport workers, night time workers, revellers and residents to see what they want from their city at night.
Ms Lamé, a writer, broadcaster, DJ and performer, said: “Hackney’s night time economy is as diverse as you can get.”
