PUBLISHED: 12:51 27 September 2013 | UPDATED: 12:51 27 September 2013

A new drop in service from the Wayside Community Centre for the elderly, disabled and those who are suffering from poverty, sickness or distress launches this Saturday.

Wayside Community Centre will run Caribbean quadrille dance, aerobics sessions, gentle seated chair exercise, and healthy living workshops during the sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 11.00am to 3.00pm.

The idea is to improve participants’ health and quality and give them a sense of purpose.

Its chair, Sister Jean John said: “Anyone who feels the need for friendship and companionship can come and socialise with other like-minded people.

“Wayside has a long history in Hackney and was born out of a perceived deficiency in the standard of community care services available to those who are elderly, disabled or who are suffering from poverty, sickness or distress.”

Everyone is invited to the launch runs from 1.45pm until 3.30pm at 69 Lower Clapton Road on Saturday September 28.
