A man in his 80s is in hospital after being hit by a car in Lower Clapton Road during the morning rush hour.
Police were called at 9am and found the elderly pedestrian injured. He was taken to hospital and Scotland Yard said his condition was not yet known.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene. Police arrested a man on suspicion of drug driving and he has been taken into custody.
The road has been taped off between Cricketfield Road and Thistlewaite Road and police have urged people to avoid the area.
