Hackney’s biggest craft brewery has officially made it – it boasts the first craft ale to be stocked in Nando’s.

Five Points will be exposed to chicken lovers far and wide thanks to the decision by the peri-peri chain to start selling its XPA after months of negotiations.

The brewery in Institute Place, Lower Clapton, will join Staffordshire’s Freedom Brewery, whose Freedom Pils will also be on the menu.

Five Points said: “We are delighted to be the first, and only, craft ale to be included in the new Nando’s drinks menu.

“Tastes are changing, and customer palates are demanding an ever expanding array of great quality, well-made and flavoursome drinks. It’s fantastic that dining chains like Nando’s are recognising the appeal of craft beer, and wanting to support independent breweries like ours when seeking new beers.

“For us, crucially, it’s an amazing opportunity to bring great, tasty beer to a much wider audience. Nando’s are an institution much loved by the nation; to introduce their diverse and varied customer base to craft beer by way of our XPA is really incredibly exciting.”

Five Points, which was only formed in 2013, recently smashed a crowdfunding target of £750,000 to expand its business.

It also bought The Pembury Tavern pub earlier this year, which now houses its first taproom. The brewery is named after the junction at which the pub sits.
