Bosses as Lower Clapton’s Five Points Brewery are “over the moon” after smashing the £750,000 fundraising target to expand the business.

The Institute Place brewers want to bring back production of its drinks from Belgium and open the first taproom at The Pembury Tavern, which was bought by the company earlier this year.

The fundraiser, allowing people to buy shares in the business, was launched in March and has now raised more than £925,000. The initial deadline of Thursday last week has now been extended, with all additional funds speeding up the expansion by allowing it to get its drinks in pubs and bars across the UK.

Five Points, named after the junction on which the tavern sits, was launched in 2013 and has gone on to become the borough’s biggest brewery.

Co-founder Ed Mason said: “We were absolutely over the moon to reach over 100 per cent of our initial crowdfunding campaign target.”
