A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a kitten was shot with an air rifle in Stoke Newington last month.

Eight-month-old Burmese cat Prune was fighting for her life - and her owners were landed with a 4,500 vets bill - after the attack in Rectory Road on May 9.

The brown-furred feline suffered a pellet wound to her abdomen just six weeks after her sister was also targeted.

Pet owner Debora Robertson distributed leaflets to her neighbours warning of the dangers.

And Hackney Downs Safer Neighbourhoods have now quizzed a man on suspicion of criminal damage and bailed him to return to Stoke Newington Police Station on July 29 pending further enquiries.
