A man who is believed to have been assaulted and left on the pavement with a serious head injury in Upper Clapton has died.

Police found him in a critical condition in Upper Clapton Road just before 4.10pm on Wednesday July 10, close to the junction with Rossington Street.

The 47-year-old had suffered a serious head wound following a suspected assault.

He was taken to the Royal London Hospital by the London Ambulance Service but his condition deteriorated and he died on Sunday July 28.

He has now been named as Bakre Yesufu of Rossington Street, Upper Clapton.

A post-mortem examination at Popular mortuary on Tuesday July 30 cited the cause of death as pulmonary embolism.

Two men were arrested in connection with the investigation on July 10 and 19 and subsequently charged.
