The Argentinean hailed the effort of his players after securing a thoroughly deserved 2-0 win over Jose Mourinho’s side
Mauricio Pochettino waxed lyrical about the quality of his Tottenham Hotspur team after watching them secure an important 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League this evening.
Spurs opened the scoring at Wembley inside 11 seconds with Christian Eriksen firing home after good work by Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
The Dane was involved in Tottenham’s second in the 28th minute too, finding Kieran Trippier on the right and his cross was sliced into his own net by Phil Jones.
It could have been more than 2-0 with Kane, Eriksen, Eric Dier, Ben Davies and Heung-min Son all having noteworthy efforts.

Pochettino said: “I don’t know if it is our best win at Wembley, but I think the performance was fantastic and great.
“I’m so pleased with that, so I congratulate my players because they deserve the full credit and of course I’m so happy with the result. I don’t know if it was the best, but for sure it was one of the best at Wembley.”

Eriksen gave the Lilywhites a dream start at the national stadium – scoring when some fans would have still be getting to their seats.
Jan Vertonghen’s long ball wasn’t dealt with by Jones and Alli looked to get a shot off on goal, but Chris Smalling blocked his effort.
The ball rolled invitingly for Eriksen and he slotted past a helpless David de Gea to spark wild scenes in the Wembley crowd.
“Yes I was surprised and we were saying after to score in 11 seconds gives you a massive opportunity to try and manage the game,” said Pochettino.
“I think the most important thing for the team was to play like it was 0-0 and we got the second goal, but we kept going and we were able to stay focused and concentrated and the team was so, so good.”
Towards the end of Pochettino’s post-match press conference, the Argentinean was asked about new signing Lucas Moura, who was introduced to the fans during the half-time break.
But the Spurs manager replied: “I think the performance was fantastic and we played so well and the team deserves a lot of credit.
“The level was fantastic and we played against a great team in Manchester United and now we need to rest and prepare for the next game.”
When pushed again for a comment on the Brazilian winger, who joins for a fee believed to be in the region of £25 million.
Pochettino again added: “I think the team played so well and I am so pleased with that and so happy. The team deserve a lot of praise for the performance.”
So, no talk about Moura for now, but after this display, the headlines deservedly go to the likes of Eriksen and Alli.
The aforementioned duo pulled the strings all night, although every player in the Spurs starting XI could get a mention.
It was a real team performance and gives Tottenham plenty of confidence going into Sunday’s pivotal clash at Liverpool.
