Future plans for a celebrated piece of street art, which is in danger of being lost if urgent preservation work is not carried out, will be discussed at a public meeting tonight.
The Dalston Carnival Peace mural in Dalston Lane, was designed by community artist Ray Walker . Following his untimely death in 1984, it was painted on the side of 15 Dalston Lane by his widow Anna Walker and colleague Mick Jones. The mural featured on the cover of number one album Home by Hackney band Rudimental.
Over the last few years, it has fallen into disrepair and has been subject to vandalism. It is now in danger of coming away from the brickwork unless preservation work is carried out.
Residents can hear more about the restoration plans a at the Dalston Ward Forum, which will be held at Dalston CLR James Library, Dalston Square, E8 tonight at 7pm.
