MP Diane Abbott visited Hackney Young Carers’ homework club last Thursday (March 10) to find out more about the issues and responsibilities surrounding the youngsters who look after their parents.
The MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington spoke with the 8- 16 year olds about their roles as young carers, at the centre in Ashwin Street run by Action for Children
Ms Abbott said: “The Hackney Young Carers Service is providing an absolutely incredible service here in Hackney, to children who otherwise could have been left to fall by the wayside.
“It is so important for young children to have the proper support throughout their education, and with the help of Action for Children the young carers in this Borough will not be deprived of this right.”
