Around 50 protesters were removed from an unused UBS bank building they had been squatting in for months just after midnight on Monday.

A man suffered minor injuries after being carried on the bonnet of car, although police have not released any further details about that incident.

The demonstrators, part of the Occupy London movement calling for a fairer society, were ejected from the site they called the Bank of Ideas in Sun Street, by police and civil enforcement officers.

One of the enforcement officers was arrested following an allegation of assault and criminal damage to a camera. The 45-year-old man was bailed to return to a north London police station later this month, pending further inquiries.
