Of Cabbages and Kings

Of Cabbages and Kings is celebrating 10 years in business with a refurb and a party.

Jessica Widdows opened her first shop and gallery selling jewellery, stationery and homewares in Kersley Road, Stoke Newington in 2008.

It is named after a quotation from the Lewis Caroll poem, The Walrus and the Carpenter.

In 2012 she joined forces with ethical yarn shop, Knit With Attitude, and opened a branch in Stoke Newington High Street. Jessica said: “Over the years we have nurtured close relationships with our designers and artists. The majority are local, working out of studios at Millers Junction, Dalston, or Hackney Downs Studios, so it’s brilliant to be here 10 years later, marking the occasion where it all began.

“The focus behind the brand has always been authenticity and sustainability.”

The shop will be open on May 25 from 4pm to 8pm for drinks and nibbles.
