Fast response car on emeregency 999 call crashes
Medics attending an emergency 999 call found themselves needing medical assistance themselves when their fast response car was involved in a road smash yesterday (Sunday) morning
The green and yellow London Ambulance Service fast response car ploughed into a traffic light at the junction of Crossways and Kingsland High Street after being involved in a collision with a car.
Two fast response cars, an ambulance crew, a doctor in a car and two duty managers raced to the scene.
A paramedic in the wrecked vehicle was treated for minor injuries, while a 39-year-old woman occupant of the other vehicle suffered neck and back injuries and was conveyed by ambulance to Homerton Hospital.
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said the original 999 call, which the paramedic fast response car had been on the way to, was dealt with by an ambulance crew which took the patient to hospital.
A council engineer had to remove the dangerously unsafe traffic light which threatened to topple over.
