Police are warning Hackney residents to take extra care against bogus callers

A pedestrian is seriously ill in hospital after after being hit by a car and sustaining a head injury in in Brooke Road, Stoke Newington yesterday.

The 55-year-old man pedestrian was taken to hospital following the collision with a silver Vauxhall Astra in Brooke Road, near Stoke Newington High Street at around 7.20pm.

The driver stopped at the scene and was not arrested.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.
