A fine arts student from Hackney has launched her first photo exhibition ‘Made in Hackney’; in the oldest home made in Hackney, Sutton House.

Nefise Hussein’s exhibition takes inspiration from her Turkish Cypriot heritage and her own journey, from helping her mum who was a machinist working in factories in Hackney, through to study fine art at university.

“I remember learning how to sew labels into clothes using a sewing machine. This is just one of the ideas behind why I chose to name this exhibition ‘made in Hackney’,” added Nefise who runs a photography club at Berger Primary School in Berger Road.

Visitors to the 500 year old house in Homerton High Street will be able to see the exhibition until July 28. It is free and open Thursday to Friday 9am to 4:30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12:30pm to 4:30pm.
