A new app that allows people to get “anything” delivered from nearby shops in 20 minutes has launched in Hackney.

Pinga has set up its headquarters in the borough after a successful £450,000 seed funding campaign. It works by allowing people to get anything delivered – whether it’s food or drink or household supplies – by regular people who are passing by.

Founded by accountant Michael Goulden, 38, and entrepreneur Jack Rubin, 22, Pinga started life at Nottingham University last year, when 3,500 students sent nearly 2,500 requests.

Now Jack says the team wants the app to facilitate more than 100,000 tasks in the next year.

Jack said: “We are committed to being a community powered business and we want to prioritise working with local shops and cafes who often can’t deliver, so we feel there is a real harmony between our brand and the area.”

The app has achieved 52 per cent week on week growth and has received investments from leading business figures.
