The owners of Kingsland Shopping Centre are about to launch a consultation on a multi-million pound retail and residential regeneration scheme.

Commercial property company, Criterion Capital, which also owns the London Trocadero and the Queensmere and Observatory Shopping Centre in Slough, has announced the plans will be officially unveiled at a public exhibition next month.

A spokesman said the proposals have been drawn up to reflect Hackney Council’s Dalston Area Action Plan, which calls for the redevelopment of the shopping centre to create a pedestrian-friendly destination that will attract more shoppers to the area and increase footfall for existing local businesses.

If given the go-ahead the company said the regeneration would take place over a number of phases allowing the shopping centre to remain open and ensuring existing retailers can stay in Dalston while works are taking place.
