The former Bayer Leverkusen attacker has a good record against both Leicester City and Borussia Dortmund

Tottenham Hotspur are getting ready for two more crucial games this week and the key to success appears to be Heung-min Son.

Spurs’ number seven has hit form at just the right time, with Harry Kane and Dele Alli absent, and it means they continue to be talked about in the title race.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side may sit third in the Premier League, but late wins away to Fulham and at home to Watford and Newcastle United have reignited their hopes.

Liverpool and Manchester City are the overwhelming favourites to secure the crown, but the N17 outfit cannot be discounted yet.

The next challenge for Spurs is to make it three consecutive wins at home with a victory over recent rivals Leicester City on Sunday.

Another mediocre crowd will be expected, but Tottenham failed to let that knock them against both Watford and Newcastle last week.

Son was the architect behind those victories with his movement and directness too much in the end for the mid-table clubs.

Leicester are in a similar boat to Watford and do blow hot and cold, so Pochettino’s men can ill-afford to underestimate them, especially given Jamie Vardy’s record when facing Spurs.

Someone who enjoys facing the Foxes, though, is Son and you can guarantee he will play a key role under the arch this weekend.

After Leicester’s visit, the focus turns to the Champions League and the mouth-watering round of 16 tie with Borussia Dortmund.

If Kane and Alli were fit, many would have this as an almost too difficult clash to call, but as things stand Dortmund are favourites.

The German club remain top of Bundesliga and have a number of talented players in their ranks, not least England’s Jadon Sancho.

However, again Son is the key man, especially in the first leg at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday, February 13 with Spurs missing crucial players.

Even during the South Korean’s time at Bayer Leverkusen, he had a knack of impressing against the Black and Yellows.

Since moving to Tottenham, Son has upped the ante even more in this department and he will hope to do the same again next week.

In other news, Vincent Janssen has been given a Spurs lifeline after he failed to secure a move away from the club last Thursday.

An ultimately disappointing transfer deadline day has resulted in the Netherlands forward returning to first-team training, after a spell with the under-23s.

On Tottenham’s development team, striker Kazaiah Sterling signed for League One outfit Sunderland last week.

The talented 20-year-old agreed a deal with the Black Cats until the end of the season on transfer deadline day and made his debut off the bench in Saturday’s 1-0 win at home to AFC Wimbledon.

Sterling’s temporary exit from Spurs will potentially open the door for youngster Troy Parrott to feature more regularly for the under-23s.

Earlier this week, the Republic of Ireland youth international announced he had agreed a first professional contract with Tottenham.
