An ambitious charity founder went one better than comedian Eddie Izzard, and ran 27 marathons in 26 days – despite suffering injuries in his shins, ankles, quad muscle and tendons.
Ed Wethered began his 1,000km route in Victoria Park on August 30, and returned on Saturday for a big party at the People’s Park Tavern.
His route, which passed through Newquay, Bristol and Birmingham, included stop-offs at 12 small kids’ charities to raise awareness of government funding cuts affecting them.
He also raised money for the charity he founded, Raise Your Hands, which supports smaller causes. He said: “I want people to support me for what I achieved, not what I endured.”
