Rapper and activist Potent Whisper has written a piece especially for a week celebrating the power to change the world, which he will debut in Dalston on Friday night.

His spoken word performance takes place in fashion reuse charity shop TRAID Dalston, alongside others from playwright and poet Sabrina Mahfouz, rapper I and Ideal, and poet Martin Powell, for TRAID’s #Secondhandfirst week.

The week of events and actions is designed to connect people to the huge environmental and social benefits of second-hand, and to promote the environmental benefits of keeping the resources we already have in use for longer.

Maria Chenoweth Casey, TRAID’s chief executive hand said: “#Secondhandfirst is more than a week, it’s a philosophy that celebrates and recognises the power of reusing clothes – and other resources – to improve our world, and, it’s a practical way of immediately adopting a more sustainable way of living.”

The shop in Kingsland High Street will be open from 6.30pm until 9pm.
