HARRY Redknapp admits that beating Arsenal in last season’s derby is one of his favourite memories as Tottenham manager after celebrating his 100th game in charge.

The Spurs boss reached his century at White Hart Lane on Saturday in the 3-1 win over Wolves. And, as he prepares to host the Gunners, he concedes that the 2-1 win over Arsene Wenger’s side back in April is one of the highlights of his reign in N17.

“I’m surprised that it’s gone so quickly,” said Redknapp. “If I had to pick some highlights, obviously winning at Man City last year was a great night for us, to get into the Champions League - and beating Arsenal last year was a big one for us as well.

“The fans love to beat Arsenal. I think it had been 11 years since we beat them in the league – something like that, a long time anyway. That was a great night for us.”

Spurs beat Arsenal 2-1 in N17 just three days after losing the FA Cup semi-final to his old club Portsmouth. And 63-year-old Redknapp admits that the derby win, followed by the 2-1 home win over Chelsea that followed three days later, ranks as one of the best weeks of his career.

“I think to bounce back on the back of that as we did was fantastic, because to get beaten in the semi-final was a downer for us,” he said. “We didn’t play badly, I think we had 35 shots on goal or something ridiculous and just couldn’t score.

“Our season really looked like it could have just faded away, but the players showed great character to come back from that to win those two massive games against teams who were looking to win the championship, Arsenal and Chelsea.”

Tottenham host the Gunners again tonight in the third round of the Carling Cup, and Redknapp is ready to give debuts to Brazilian midfielder Sandro and Croatia international goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa.

Arsene Wenger has a history of blooding his youngsters in this competition and, while many of Spurs’ up and coming stars are currently out on loan, Redknapp is likely to utilise the depth of his squad, fielding the likes of Niko Kranjcar, Giovani Dos Santos and Sebastien Bassong.

Former Arsenal midfielder David Bentley looks set to feature against his old club, having scored a memorable 40-yard volley against the Gunners at the Emirates in 2008.

Danny Rose could also be involved after his own wondergoal against the old enemy at the Lane back in April, while 18-year-old centre-back Steven Caulker and 20-year-old midfielder Jake Livermore will be hoping for a chance to impress against Arsenal’s own young Guns.
