The regeneration of Hoxton’s Colville Estate will continue with 200 homes being built for private sale.
Developers Anthology are carrying out the work on Hoxton Press – a former paper manufacturers site owned by the Mullord Brothers as part of the larger 1,000-home project.
A CGI mock-up of the pads suggests each will come with a huge painting of David Bowie. But fans will have to cough up a minimum of £500,000 for the flats, with sales funding the rest of the regeneration that includes 500 homes for social rent or shared ownership.
Mayor Glanville said the new builds were designed on the back of years of consultation with neighbours and top architects.
He said: “I’m proud that despite receiving no government funding, developments like this mean we’re on site delivering more social housing than anywhere else in London – giving more families a truly affordable place to live or the opportunity to get a foot on the housing ladder.”
