Brit Award winners Rudimental made a special guest appearance on Well Street’s live music stage on Saturday, when the market’s frequency changed from monthly to weekly.
The drum and bass band’s performance formed part of Discover Young Hackney’s youth takeover day.
Rudimental have been delivering music mentoring sessions to young performers as part of the council run arts festival.
Kesi Dryden, who was born and raised in Hackney and is one of the band’s four members said: We’ve been around the world touring, seen loads of different places, but there’s not many places I’ve felt that have the same spirit as Hackney - I feel that gives you an advantage in life, having these experiences growing up.”
The youth takeover saw wares on offer from London’s first ever Student Makers and Teenage Market, which sees designers, artists and makers benefitting from free stalls and training.
