A nursery in Hackney was transformed into a Christmas grotto complete with presents for all the children thanks to teams of elves from two major banks.
Volunteers from the Lloyds customer credit and fraud decisions team swept in to Barnardo’s Wetherell Nursery in Iveagh Close, South Hackney, on December 10, converting one of the rooms into a white winter wonderland in just a few hours.
Four days later nursery managers visited the Barclays internal audit team in Canary Wharf, returning with presents for each child after Barclays was sent a wish list with names and ages.
Barnardo’s nursery manager Rebecca Polsom said: “We were amazed at everything the Lloyds team managed to achieve in such a short amount of time, and the Barclays team put so much thought into finding the right presents for the children.
