A film exploring the living conditions for women in Senegal makes its debut at the Rio Cinema this Friday.
Ladies Turn focuses on the first women’s football tournament ever organised in the West African country, where “football is king.”
It explores Senegalese society today, the representation of women’s bodies in Muslim cultures and the complicated relationship between a French-American ex-colonial culture and a new generation of politically active Senegalese men and women.
Written and directed by Hlne Harder, the film screens at the Rio, 107 Kingsland Road at 11.30am, tickets cost 7 or 6.50 concessions.
