Hipster chicken joint Bird wants to extend the opening hours of its Kingsland Road branch until 2am but police fear it could lead to drunk customers spilling into the streets at night.
The Shoreditch restaurant opened in 2014 and bosses say they want to bring it in line with the three newer branches by offering an “all-day concept”.
It’s already open from 8am until 11.30pm six days a week, but if permission is granted the closing time will be extended by another two and and a half hours, and booze will be served until 1.30am.
Councillors will vote on Thursday but police aren’t too happy about it. Pc Kerrie Ryan said: “Customers’ behaviour will be very different having had the opportunity to drink for several hours without food. This is taken out onto the streets of Shoreditch where there is already a huge problem with anti-social behaviour involving drunken fights, urination, vomiting and general disorder.”
