Neighbours dropped their concerns about an all-day drinks and entertainment licence for the sales suite marketing The Stage after a meeting with its developer Galliard Homes.

A licensing hearing was cancelled at the last minute on Tuesday after the company building the £715m Shoreditch project reached an agreement with residents from Fairchild Place.

They had complained about the noise generated by the temporary events already held there, and were alarmed at the possibility the developer could in theory hold functions every day of the year if Hackney Council upgraded their temporary events notice licence to a permanent one.

But Galliard agreed the premises will be vacated by 11.15pm after which there will be no unloading of tables and chairs, and no one will be allowed to smoke or drink outside. In addition, there will only be four events held a month. The application has duly been passed.
