Sock wrestling, space hoppers and kite making were a few of the delights on offer at Sunday’s fun day on Stoke Newington Common.
Hundreds of people turned up to the event organized by the Stoke Newington Common Users’ Group (SNUG), and families and kids enjoyed music, craft activities, fun and games next to Northwold Road.
A lively compere gave a running commentary on the sock wrestling tournament where people went face to face in a duel to be the first to remove each other’s socks.
The tug-of-war was won by the girls’ team and Moroccan, Indian, Halal, Turkish food was on sale to tempt the tastebuds.
“It was a full on few hours and the weather held,” said Berni Graham, chair of the SNUG.
“We have a really good turnout with a really good cross section of the local community with lost of kids and families.
“The queue was miles long for the face painting, and there was huge demand for the Dr Bike - two bike mechanics did free bike repairs for five hours solid, not even stopping for a coffee break.”
