Fire crews battled a blaze in an eighth floor flat in Wick Road, South Hackney for over an hour on Friday night.
Six fire engines and 35 fire fighters were called to the fire in Wick Road, South Hackney, at 10.38pm and had the fire under control by midnight.
One man escaped the blaze in the 10-storey block before the crews arrived, and was treated for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
