Hackney's sole Green Party councillor wants every road under Hackney Council's control to have a 20mph speed limit.
Cllr Mischa Borris, from Clissold ward in Stoke Newington, says restrictions will make the streets safer and reduce accidents.
She is proposing a motion to this month's full council meeting.
