South Korean expresses disappointment with goalless draw at home to Swansea City on Saturday and is eager for team to bounce back against Barnsley

Tottenham’s Heung-min Son admits he is missing Kevin Wimmer after the defender’s move to Stoke City.

The pair had a close relationship at Spurs and the South Korean said: “I’m a bit sad because he was and is my best friend.

“Sometimes I miss him already but if he’s your best friend you have to be happy. If he’s happy at Stoke then I am as well.

“I text him maybe every two days and he’s very happy. He’s played two games already and I’m looking forward to seeing him. Everyone’s my best friend here now – but not like Kevin!”

Son was one of Spurs’ most dangerous players during Saturday’s frustrating goalless draw against Swansea City, despite spending the first half playing as a makeshift left wing-back in the absence of Ben Davies.

Nonetheless, the Lilywhites remain without a win in their opening three home league games at Wembley this season.

“It’s very disappointing,” said Son. “We created a lot of chances and I think we are much better than Swansea, but this is football sometimes. We just have to quickly move forward to the next game.

“It’s not like one game is easier than all the others. We’ve played against Burnley and Swansea and they also play in the Premier League. They’re not teams that we can always beat 5-0 or 6-0.

“We have to be 100 per cent in every game, and then we can win. We were a bit unlucky this time but we just have to win the next game.”

Spurs will be back at Wembley on Tuesday night to host Championship outfit Barnsley in the third round of the League Cup – the last trophy the club won back in 2008.

“I can see in their faces how hungry the players are,” said Son. “Everyone’s ready for the League Cup, the Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup when it starts. In all competitions we have to get as far as possible, and we’re just looking forward to winning this game.

“It’s difficult to say ‘we’re going to win the League Cup’. It’s much easier to say than to do it and in football you never know what’s going to happen. That’s why on the pitch we need to be there in every competition.

“I’m a person that wants to win every game. Even when I draw I’m very disappointed, like on Saturday. Let’s see what happens on Tuesday.”
