Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action this weekend when they host London rivals Crystal Palace, writes Jacob Ranson.

Spurs welcome the Eagles to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday following the international break and will hope they can get off to a flying start.

Mauricio Pochettino's men failed to win in their last two fixtures before the break as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United and then played out a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the north London derby.

They'll now be hoping they can go on a winning run to make up ground on the front-runners Liverpool and Manchester City even at this early stage.

But they have been boosted by keeping hold of Danish international Christian Eriksen and Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen.

And attacking midfielder Dele Alli returned from injury in their clash at the Emirates Stadium as he came off the bench and he will be hoping to be back in the starting line-up on the weekend.

"I feel strong enough already, it is disappointing to not be on the international break, but I'll be training hard and making sure I'm ready," the 23-year-old said.

"It's the toughest part of being a footballer when you get an injury, so it was nice to be back.

"It's very disappointing as a player as you just want to play all the time, so to be out injured towards the end of pre-season and to miss the first few games is disappointing, but I'm back now and ready."

Alli knows the pressure is on Tottenham more this season due to being the Champions League runners-up last term but insists they are their own biggest critics anyway.

"That's what we expect of ourselves as well, we're our own biggest critics, we don't really listen too much to what is going on outside as everyone has their opinions and that's the great thing about football," he added.

"For us we have to keep our focus right all season and take each game as it comes."

They could be without new signing Giovanni Lo Celso after he picked up an injury on international duty with Argentina.
